It does everything sublimely well, that being said, if the bottom is not screwed in just the right amount without even a +/- 10% it leaks.
This is by far the best blender I have ever had and I have had many. It makes great smoothies, milkshakes and it crushes ice for snow cones like you wouldn't believe.
ALWAYS "blend" water first to test the seal ... otherwise fabulous.
Overall I am pleased with this blender. Of course after one month I cannot attest to its long term durability.
We purchased this Breville blender about 14 months ago, primarily to make smoothies. We used it about once a week to blend juices and frozen fruit. It worked great for a while--it made smooth smoothies and seemed very powerful. Then we started to notice a burning rubber smell.
